“After attending the Academy of Asheville, my son entered kindergarten last year, reading. Not just reading, reading very well. He now helps other children in his classroom to read.
What a great place!”
–Enrolled Family

Although it is common that each of these children have been a “group” since they joined our school at age two, your child will find welcoming classmates eager to become your child’s new friend! The children enjoy answering their own classroom telephone and are assisted in calling their parents and grandparents. There are classroom Ipads, toys, games, wonderful books and pets to care for. As your child begins to read opportunities are available to read to our younger classrooms! Your child will enjoy planting flowers, lettuce & other seeds, charting growth and gathering to create fresh salads, etc. as they learn first hand of healthy eating habits, recycling and the importance of fresh air and exercise.
In addition to indoor and outdoor organic gardening, the children also have their own greenhouse! Your child will learn about many famous scientists and artists, begin to tell time, create stories and poetry. Write and communicate in Spanish and sign language.
We share the importance of fresh air, exercise, recycling and caring for our earth. There are many exciting science experiments(goggles and lab coats included) and pre-cooking activities. Outdoor classroom time, organic gardening activities and lunch/snack picnics.
This group learns to spell, to read and write (often in Spanish and English) as well as to add and subtract. All through play and fun hands-on activities. Our curriculum promotes self esteem and confidence. Particular emphasis is given to acquiring readiness skills in reading, printing and math. Each August, we are sad to see our children leave us for kindergarten, but know they are confident and well prepared for school. Reading and writing, adding and subtracting. But most importantly, we insure your child will have good memories.
